    Hi,

does anyone know what the interview process is like for An Post. They have just advertised vacancies for Postpersons and delivery drivers. They outline a bit on the website about the selection process and mention "competitive interviews". Does anyone know exactly what that means?

i know theres an older thread about this but no-one replied and since the jobs are advertised again i thought i might as well ask
    cheers!

I worked in kildare for a while with an post in 2005.
I had to do a aptitude test first, put onto a panel, and then a bog standard interview with some heads.
pretty simple once your not stupid really

    Loretta ,
Any idea was this a national recruitment drive or just in your locailty , have been looking at getting info on similar work. As with most "handy looking" numbers I'm sure there's a line of folks looking to get them jobs.

    Thanks

Yeah, one of my cousins works doing it and that's how he summed it up. His opinion was that if you are a morning person who likes getting their work done and out of the way early in the day it suits you. If you are not a morning person I imagine it's pretty depressing. I could never do it for instance purely because most definitely not a morning person, the work itself wouldn't bother me.

I know a few people who were interviewed recently in Donegal. One of the big things in the interview was what they thought would be a normal day. Have a word with your postman, it will stand you in good stead.

What is the pay is like for the roles being discussed here?

Have a weather station?, why not join the Ireland Weather Network - http://irelandweather.eu/

My boyfriend got an application form from them recently and in the pack that he got it says that you work 37.5 hours per week for €420 euro. It rises after a little while though...

There is an hourly rate. There are also a few extra allowances such as split shift allowance, night duty allowance (up to 8.00am), dricing allowance and eating on route allowance.
