    Player A: K6
    Player B: K9

    Flop: QQ10
    Turn: 5
    River: 2

    Who wins?

I view this as a split pot, both having Q's with K kicker, but playing at a gaff last night, everyone said player B wins as it's the best 5 cards (ie QQK109).

Now I'm somewhat confused as I've heard it's the "best 5 cards", but always assumed there could only be one kicker?

    Thanks,
    ish.

They don't have a pair of Queens with a King kicker, they just have a pair of Queens. If Player A had QK and B had Q9, and the board read Q10 8 5 6, then you could say, player A wins with a pair of Queens and King kicker.

As for that hand, your friends are correct.

    Player A has QQK106
    Player B has QQK109

They both have a pair of Queens with King high, their kicker then comes into play

    Best 5 cards
    fairly straight forward,
its only ever a draw if the best 5 cards are the same,
the kicker is the first card that differs in desending order,
if there was a J instead of the 2, it would be a split.

actually k9 would win with a straight then, :P

lol serves me right for just swapping in a card higher than the 9,
    an ace instead then :)
