Engine for VW LT31

    Would anyone know what are my options if I need to replace a VWLT31 engine (1991) reg. Had a breakdown and its looks like its gonna be a big job.

    Garage mechanic has said a Nissan engine would do the job, but I had thought only VW and one Audi engine would fit the bill.

    Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Sorry to here you've got troubles.

    Do you know which VW or Audi engines would go in? If so, I can possibly let you know how easy it will be (or not) to source one in Ireland. The engine codes would be great.

    If its anything like the T25, then I know *any* engine will probably go in...but may need a lot of mods to make it fit. Whereas VW or Audi engines tend to drop straight in with little or no mods required.

    You could try the Brickyard for more info and definitely for advice. Its a T25 flavoured venue, but I know there are a few members on there with LT's, and I know Simon is looking to add an LT section his main site. So I feel that would be a great starting point for you.

    Hi,

    Thanks for your reply, we still haven't been able to locate any engine.

    The engine we are looking for is a six cylinder 2.384 diesel engine. The van is a converted ambulance (1991 reg).

    According to the log book, the engine number is OVO28010 (O's could be 0s and vice versa!)

    The chassis number is 28MH006515

    According to one guy I talked to, these do not look right?

    The garage mechanic where the van is maintains that the engine can be repaired but he couldn't guarantee it lasting much longer...

    As far as I remember, these LT engines also used to be fitted into diesel Volvos of that period.
    This might help to broaden your search a bit.
