what do you make of this ?
I got season 1 on DVD and i didn't think it was great at 1st, but after watching
a few eps some of it is really funny (still no where near Family Guy)..
but it took a good few eps to get good, what is season 2 like ?

it's an okay show, jokes are styled fairly similar to family guy which is totally understandable but it isn't as random as family guy which is a breath of fresh air for american dad.

still though the show hasn't a patch on south park or futurama, but it's enjoyable to watch.

season 2 is more of the same, so if you enjoy season 1 you'll enjoy season 2

I think it is better than Family Guy. I love it to bits.

I think it is better than Family Guy.

Ya know, many a time watching it I've thought the same but anytime I say it to anyone I told I'm an id10t.

Nice to know I'm not the only one who thinks it's better.

I don't see enough of it tho, perhaps I'll pick it up again over the summer.

    Brilliant show; Camp Refuge. *snigger*

its never as brillant as family guy when fg is on top form, but is more consistant......i wouldnt pass up an ep, but would never put on tv specifcally to watch it

I think the funniest character is Avery, played by Patrick stewart ..

that guy is hilarious he should do more comedy..

I think he was also on 1 ep of Family Guy ?

You cant relay compare them, on a week to week basis one will be better than the other then next week it switches again

Season 6 Episode 14 - Peter wanted to get an operation to swap his vocal chords with Patrick Stewart

I think AD is more consistent and less randomly crazy than FG. It took some getting used to at the start, but I really like it, and think its on par with FG.

Dunno if I got my facts wrong, but was it created (but never released) before FG? Thought I heard something about it before...

i think it was concieved of at the same time but due to the flak family guy was taking back in the day i think they made a decision to wait a while

I absolutely love this show, I discovered it by accident online and have been watching it ever since. Definitely one for the DVD collection.

It's refreshing to see a show that is directly set on the premise of taking a swipe at the more right-wing side of US culture rather than other shows that simply take occasional side-swipes.

In season 1 there have been some very good laugh out loud moments!

Family Guy is now a stale and boring, and most importantly unfunny, show. It has become the parody that South Park did of it in season 10........"You think thats bad? What about the time........(insert surreal moment)" This style of joke is what family guy is relying on. It seems to me the production company has moved all the good writers to American Dad as the quality of jokes have gotten better as the show has progressed and I hated season 1 of that show.

huh.... i hated the last two eps

I don't think I even laughed once at the most recent one.. it was just terrible

    i thought that the
chicken[\spoiler] was very funny and so was just how even more random the show has got, they probbley hired a few new manatee's and its just taking you a while to get used to them.

On a side note whats up with simpsons? airing at 9.30 in the states now is it? 30 mins before family guy? the last episode (sunday 13th) seemed allot better than other new ones

I have to say I like American Dad, its very watchable. One of my friends wont even look at it though, says "its just ripping off family guy". As if family guy doesnt rip off the simpsons and so on and so forth.

I really hated the first half of American Dad season 1. It took a very long time to get going. I've been mightily impressed with the strength of season 2. Sure, not every episode is fantastic but on the whole, it's a solid show and I believe the second half of season 1 was pretty solid as well. I for one am looking forward to season 3, which is not something I would have said around the end of 2005.

Family Guy is not as good as it was for the first 2 and a half seasons IMO. There is a far higher risk of poor episodes (or at least poor segments) nowadays. I do think that the second half of the most recent season was pretty strong. There is definitely life in the show yet. Oh, and I liked the last two episodes, especially the "Back to the Future" series finale.
