I have a PDF writer/virtual printer program but all it actually does is make PDF's of whatever document I'm looking at. What I'd like to do is fill out a standard PDF form by typing on my computer then print it. How can I do this?

You mean fill in a pdf form? All you need to do is fill in the form and then press print.

The pdf printer thing is for creating pdf's.

Really? That'd be great. But then how do I write on the form? It doesn't seem to want to let me insert text.

Afaik You need Adobe Acrobat Professional to create PDF's.

Maybe just copy and paste it into word? Might mess up the formatting though, but its the only (free) solution I can think of.

I've seen some forms that are actually constructed to allow you enter data into them. You can then save the file as a PDF or print it.

But of course the person who creates the PDF form has to enable this, so I don't think it will help your cause.

Pasting into the likes of Word won't look pretty.

Ya. Thats what i meant by pdf form and as you said, yes the creator of the pdf will have to have created the pdf document as a pdf form with editable form entries. If they have not done this then you will need the like of acrobat professional to edit the pdf. It costs around €300 :(

Here is another sw to do it. Its not too cheap, but is cheaper than adobe acrobat pro. There is also a trial version, but thie will leave a mark on the pdf saying you are using the trial version.

    Maybe this will work:
    http://www.sharewareconnection.com/pdf-reader.htm

Allows you to modify PDF's but you can't safe the modified version in the free edition (maybe you can print though).

You can probably find something from this Google search anyway:
