USB 2.0 vs. IEEE1394a

    I just bought an external hard-drive, and am currently using it with a USB 2.0 port. I am going to buy a new machine shortly, and I expect to buy one with an IEEE1394a port. My new hard drive will work on both. Which is better/faster/safer? ;)

    USB 2 is Faster than Firewire 400 (480mb/s VS 400mb/s)

    But firewire has a better sustained transfer...

    So if you are working with video / large files get Firewire :)

    TBH, unless you are a power user, you won't notice any difference. I have an external USB2 drive connected to my PC and I record/playback TV to/from it without problems.

    Sorry to Hi jack here but I m upgrading was also gonna get Firewire but basically if you have USB 2 there no real difference?
