    Hey all,

Thanks to everyone who came down last week for Barry Dempsey's single launch! Barry put on a great show and we think his new tune will do really well! For those of you who missed out you can check out Barry’s "Gelyte" single at: www.myspace.com/djbarrydempsey

Down in housejunkies HQ this week we have Dublin's very own breaks guru, Simon F. Simon is no stranger to Dublin clubs as he's constantly playing them all, week in week out. We're delighted to have a DJ of his considerable experience down with us this Saturday and we're sure this will be another cracking night! Support comes from our own breaks enthusiast Mr Russell Parker!

    Simon's Bio:

Simon was born and raised in Ireland, before being uprooted and moved to Orlando, Florida in 1985. Quite quickly he latched onto the sound of early Hip-Hop and Miami Bass which was flooding the airwaves in the States at the time. After years of immersing himself in those and many other styles of music from Acid House to Industrial he happened upon Breakbeat, a sound which at the time was mainly coming out of Florida from artists like Icee, Dynamix II. Over the coming years decks were purchased and his lifelong obsession with the broken beat had firmly begun. In 1995 Simon returned to Ireland to find a distinctive lack of Breaks, in fact a lack of anything other than Hardhouse and Techno. He quickly decided that this situation had to be altered and set about getting himself some gigs in and around Dublin, in order to get his sound heard. After numerous guest slots in clubs around the city he found ZaZu, a subterranean sweatbox that was far from “Underground". Many meetings later with the owners, and with the help of some of Dublin’s biggest promoters Switch was born, and so was "Octane" Simon's first weekly breaks night. "Octane" ran for only one year, but more importantly it set the ball rolling for breaks in the capitol. After a short hiatus from promoting, due to concentrating on his sound engineering career, Simon returned to the forefront of the dance scene with Dublin’s finest breaks club to date, FOOD (F*ck Off Or Dance). Since its inception in 2001 FOOD has been responsible for bringing over some of the worlds biggest breaks players from, BLIM to Si Begg, and have also showcased some of Irelands finest breaks DJ's and acts. With his foot still firmly on the accelerator Simon, looks to be at the forefront of the Irish breaks scene for quite sometime to come.

    Have a great weekend!
