Work out your calories needed, roughly 20x bw in lbs and eat that much a day, get rest, and train hard. simple really there is no magical diet

    I'm going on a big bulk in a few months and here's what I'm planing on using;

    MassX http://www.pronutrition.ie/products.php?action=product&id=30
    Oats
    Lots of chicken breasts
    Lean minced meat
    Peanut Butter (LOTS of it)
    Brown Bread
    Olive oil
    Spinach
    Potatos
    Turnips
    Various fruits and berries

That's probably everything I'll be eating! Hope it helps.

You could add in tuna and salmon if you like fish.

As Hanley said. I also use eggs, white fish and brown rice during bulk. Carbs are cheap, the most costly part of a bulk is the meat and fish.

For anyone going on a bulk my advice is except for the post workout window keep those carbs clean and low in GI.

This will help a lot with gaining lean mass, instead of heaving your insulin levels about and ending up a Tubby Tim.

Rolled oats are the shizzie, and you can eat them anytime of the day.

Best thing to do to minimise costs is to simply shop smart.

I buy all my meat in the English market in Cork. I get 10 Chicken breasts for 10 quid there, I was in tesco yesterday and I saw 6 for something like 15 quid!.

When Holland and Barrett have their Why protien on 2 for 1 sale I buy myself as many tubs as I can carry! Not the best tasting stuff in the world but who's complaining at €15 a tub??

How much do the tubs weigh?

If my life was going to be reduced to less than a dozen foods, turnips wouldn't even make the shortlist!

    I'd agree with you. That's what I would serve someone I didn't like :D
One thing to point out is that you should pick foods you actually like, otherwise you'll never stick to the plan. For vedge I like green beans, brocolli and zuchinni!

    Hi,

Just a quick question for you guys regarding this MassX. I see it's low in sugars but high in Calories.

I'm not actually looking to bulk up but I need to put on weight 15-20lbs after an operation. I've been struggling with this for the past 2 months. The opp was on my stomach and I'm finding it hard to actually eat much so my calorie intake is down.

I'm doing light exercise at the moment, jogging, cycling, push-ups etc etc,

Basically, Is MassX ok to take for just to get calories in or will it turn me into a huge blob. I;m not planning on taking too much just to get my calories to approx 2500-3000 a day., And I'm normally very active.

    Thanks,

    V

Hey there dude, I think it should do the trick for you. Believe it or not early Meal Replacement supplements were based on the drinks given to patients who could not eat solid foods.

Just keep within your calorific requirments and you should be fine!

However, because you have just had an operation I would suggest you check with your doctor to see if there is anything specific you should not be eating, then check the ingredients of Mass X.

Was already on the disgusting Ensure  .
    Pure Muck.

Thanks for the reply,, and sorry for the hijack :)

Will buy some now, hope it's good. The other drinks I was taking were only 300 calories a pop, this is the stuff I need. I've turned into a pin.

    Cheers,

    V

Porridge and scrambled eggs for breakfast..next meal have a peice of round steak and a baked potato, have a tin of tuna and some pasta for the next one,a shake and some wholewheat bread next and lastly a tuna omelette with mixed veg.Dont avoid fats in your diet though and make sure you eat every three hours.

indeed it is, but even more superior is when it's mixed with chocolate mint whey + whole milk and stuck in a blender.

    mmmmm.... creamy protein yumminess...

noooooo that's just so wrong. you can't put "bits" into ice-cream. It doesn't melt on your tongue if you do.

Are you saying you don't like ice-cream? 'Cos I'm pretty sure that automatically puts you on some kind of FBI short-list of potential murderers or something. :p

I suggest you and that brother of yours come up to Dublin for a session in the gym and on the town.

Then we'll see who the "wimmin" are. ;)
