Ok I placed a thread here last week on me...yes me- one of those rare breeds of male!...doing a Beauty Specialist course ..so out of curiosity then what are your opinions on a guy treating you? I could..probably would focus on the t-v/t-s sector..but at the same time curious as to women's perspectives?. I could also save myself a lot of money...judging by my Brown Thomas horror show!..even though the products were nice!
Thanks to all who forfeit their valuable time to reply!
    Alan

Nope - might even attract me more towards the guy, as I would feel if he is in this business he must be good!

It wouldn't bother me in the slightest whether they were male or female, as long as they do a good job.

Yep, there's a great guy in Mac who does excellent make overs. And Kevyn Aucoin (google him) was one of the best make up artists in the world, unfortunately he died a few years ago.

I'd be in agreement with everyone else on this thread - I would have no problem at all with a make make-up artist!

No problem going to a guy to get make-up done - in fact I know a lot of women who's nail technician or make up artist is male -- these men have nearly a groupie following!!

Thanks for all your positive and 'edifying' feedback...have long time wanted to do something like this..but let others dissuade me.."Girls there will be laughing at you"...I need friends who are prepared to break conventions and not accept boundaries..listened to a lot of the wrong people...Going to follow my heart...and one of my dreams and go for it. Beauty Specialist should be a good foundation and I can in due course add to it.

    Go for it!:D

I don't think it's odd at all, personally.

    Definitely.

Ken Boylan of www.boylanandbalfe.com is an example of a male working in the field in Ireland.

I had a male make-up artist give me a makeover in BTs a few months back. He was great :D
Doesn't bother me in the slightest!

Had a makeover myself yesterday....and well looks great..first time wearing really elaborate colours..green and blue eye shadow..with mascara....really love it...has drawn quite a few stares...a lot positive...a few threatening..even briefly felt my safety was at risk...but hey I'm really pleased with it... and most of my friends think it looks brillant.

Feel though that I'm stugglung for acceptance in some quarters as an openly feminine guy..think a lot of feminine guys struggle to be accepted and sometimes feel threatened when I encounter loutish elements...Know that perhaps a different forum might be more appropriate but I at times struggle to be accepted. Think I'm 'Gender Queer'...Am happy to be male but not to live in the traditional male Binary Gender role
