Vodafone do not have any pre-pay roaming agreements with anyone in the US which means that they cannot guarantee you will get any service or what prices you will pay for calls or texts. In saying that we used our prepay sims worked ok the last time we were there prices were pretty high bout 60c for a message and €2 a minute for calls in or out.
If you wanted to buy an US then they are about $40 with $20 worth of minutes. You will have to make sure you phone is unlocked to accept the US SIM tho

    Woooow thats pricey.
So do you buy the Sim in the US in a phone shop and then just put it into yours? And do you get a new number or how does it work?

Yeah you buy a SIM in any phone store and put it into your (unlocked) handset. You will get a US number
Virgin have recently launched a network over there so things could be cheaper now!!!
