Great case, well done and well wear.

Still disappointed you went for the Zalman cooler when there are better options out there, you should still get a good overclock tho, maybe not if the summer temps keep rising  .

Nice. Makes me realise how basic my machine is. No fans at all, apart from the stock intel cooler....:o

Good job...those Antect cases look nice.
You might want to get a few cable ties in there before your 8800 arrives :D

Yes core 0 and 1 are teh CPU. That looks so nice man. well done!!

Are you using manual fan control on speed fan?

Those are some good temps, but with a 200mm fan sucking air out the top I guess Im not surprised.

EDIT: Am i correct in assuming from your desktop resolution that you have not got your 8800 yet? :)

No I had it.. I didnt install the drivers for it yet so everything was all horrible looking.

Ive run into a few snags though which have been the same last night... Ive even gone back to xp to see if it would work!

I have a Medusa 5.1 Headset and the mic just isnt working at all...

Its really annoying! Im pretty sure its all connected up right to the x-fi card but nothings coming out.. Sound is perfect just no mic :(

Im going to try the sound card now I got with the motherboard see if that fixes anything which I hope it does!

Ill post pics up after I try.. :)

Thats a grand screen sure. The beauty of building yourself is you are always waiting for that next component (for me, the thermalright Ultra-120 extreme!). So in essence, your system is never really finished, unless you are a serial builder. There will always be a better component around the corner.

Side note, anyone seen the price tag for the underwhelming 8800 Ultra?? Crazy!!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 29,930 ✭✭✭✭TerrorFirmer

You could build a semi decent gaming machine for the same price....

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,227 ✭✭✭awhir

whats the point with having a very powerfull pc with a small screen.

to take full advantage you would need a 20" to show the full power the best.

Off all things.... I cant get my mic to work its really annoying I duno wether its the mic or the vista drivers for the x-fi but the mic is just to low to be audiable(spelling?)

IMO lose the fatality soundcard, which in fairness is vastly overpriced for what you get, and instead throw in another 2 gigs of ram...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,728 ✭✭✭dazftw

Id have to upgrade to 64bit to get use out of 4 gigs and have to buy 2 gigs which would cost me around €250 + 64bit OS €100(unless I can upgrade for cheaper)

The card cost me 140

Isnt their some issue with X-Fi soundcards in Vista? I think L31mr0d advised me against buying one right now for this reason.

Worked fine in Vista for me with updated Creative drivers....gone back to Xp for other reasons though.

The medusas are just dodgy headsets tbh. i bought mine back in november and have gotten nothing but trouble from the mic and occasional BUzzing from the headphones when listening to music. Very dissapointed.

The buzzing on the headset may be being caused by the way your USB ports are grounded on your PC.

When I power the head set using my USB ports on my shuttle, I get a very low buzzing in the background when I am listening to things.

However I tried using the 2 pin power adapter that is also included with the headset and power the headset from the wall, I have no issues what so ever(you might what to try it).

I have had zero issues with the headset, it is very comfortable and the MIC is quality.

Just make sure the actual mic is enabled in Windows settings.

Mic is muted by default in windows, you have to go to the recording settings in volume controls and select it as a recording device and unmute it.
