Myself, my Boyfriend, my friend and her boyfriend are thinking of going to
    "laganas, in Zakynthos,".

Anyone been there before? Got any words of wisdom?

    What's the food like?
    The nightlife?
    Day activities?
    Is it expensive?
Popular with young people and families/couples alike?
How warm is it? (We're thinking fo going 1st week of June!)

All reviews would be sincerly appreciated!

    Thanks a Million x

hey I went there with my sister a few years ago. have to admit, even the drive from the airport to the resort put me off the place. I didnt like it at all. I can't remember the name of the place where we stayed but it was 5mins walk from the 'strip' in laganas. the whole place was shoddy and felt really unsafe. I would not recommend going there at all but i'll answer your questions as best as i can remember.
1 - food is really nice if you go to zante town and stay away from the fast food places. there's a place in town woth lovely gardens and another looking over the pier. cheap enough and has nice greek dishes.
2 - the nightlife was exactly like you see on ibiza uncovered and all them shows. typical loud drunk english people (very much an english resort). dance clubs and cocktail bars. not much choice and all very crowded.
3 - activities will differ with your tour reps but you'll find a lot of people pushing the same things on the strip. cruise to the shipwreck, day at nicholas bay beach (very nice, don't go to laganas beach!), shopping trips to town etc. shops in town are expensive so dont expect bargains. shipwreck is cool to see but bring flip-flops/sandals as the beach is very stony and not as nice as it looks! def go to nicholas bay if you want a beach. watersports, beach bar and a clean beach.
4 - activities are expensive but overall you wont be paying more than here. you wont feel ripped off with things but you wont save either.
5 - i found it had a lot of young people and it is a 'lounge by day, party by night' place. ok if you like that but has no unique culture.
6- the only reason i would go back would be because of the weather. went in early june and it was always in 30's. fab weather! but beware at night. where we stayed didnt give you blankets, only sheets and it's artic at night. i always wore jeans, socks, t-shirts, jumpers, coats and anything else i could fit on. so did my sister. it was so cold at night!!!

if you do book I hope you have a better time than us. I would tell people not to go there but it's your choice. weather is fab but thats all i liked. hope this can be a help and maybe you can ask the right questions to your travel agents. enjoy whereever you go and let us know if you found it different.

edit: even with your boyfriend, watch out for local men. they'll try anything.

Laganas is a kip avoid unless you like Lots and Lots of Lager louts. There are better resorts on the island.

Argassi, along the coast from Zante Town(the main town) is good. The beach(WHAT beach?) is no great shakes, but there are better ones down the peninsula. Zante is a handy 10 min taxi ride away. Argassi has it's own bar/restaurant/shopping facilities.

    you should go to Tsilivi

thats where myself and the gf went last year, its a lovely place. It very relaxing, and just nice to be in. Food is lovely, very warm, nice scenery.

We were talking to one of the guys one night who was handing out flyers, and he said he had to leave laganas. He has been doing it every summer for 3 years, in different resorts, but he said he left laganas after 3 weeks, it was just far too mad. My friends were also there, but said ti was the worst holiday they have been on.

If you are going to zakynthos, go to Tsilivi, you wont regret it

very cheap for food too, most nights we wen out and would get two starters, two mains, large bottle of water and bottle of wine, most we ever spent was €38 between the two of us
