    Hi,

I'm off to Sydney soon for a few weeks and I would like if someone could recommend some hotels for me.

I am preferably looking for something as close as possible to the city and the usual tourist traps.
What areas are good for this?

As a guideline, the kind of hotel I have in mind is 4 star (but flexible) and I'm willing to pay €100 per night (also flexible).

Any help and advice on this would be greatly appreciated.

Would highly recommend that you stay in the Darling Harbour area of the city. The main shopping areas and central business district are just a 5 minute walk from here and it is also served by the monorail. This area has lots of shops and restaurants and has a more relaxed feel to it while still being in the city centre.

We booked all our accommodation in Australia through www.ratestogo.com. They are a last minute booking service which offer discounts on accommodation if you book up to 21 days in advance of your stay. All the top places to stay are on this site. We stayed in the Oaks Goldsbrough Apartments in Darling Harbour and couldn't recommend it highly enough. Wouldn't even think of staying anywhere else on a return visit to Sydney. While they are apartments, they have a swimming pool, and tea, coffee, washing powder etc are provided in the room.
