Anyone here lucky enough to be heading over to it this summer? Its the 30th anniversary of SW this year, so it should be a good one! I personally love the poster they created for the event. One of my favourite scenes in A New Hope - The Binary Sunset

Originally it was just "A New Hope" with no references to episodes I believe.

EDIT: I'm wrong it would seem.. there wasn't even a reference to "A New Hope" the first time around.

afaik that was down to 20th century fox not wanting "chapters" or sub-titles for each movie at the beginning. then the second movie came along, and the rest is history...

(also, liking the new avatar monkeyfudge...)

Empire Strikes Back was the first film to feature an episode number, which was 5. A New Hope was re-released the following year as Episode 4.

(And yes... I'm happy with my Hobo Mojo Jojo avatar too)

Im old enough to have seen this in the cinema when it came out , it was always episode IV , its in the text that floats up on the screen at the start , the first words are " episode IV ...a new hope " and they have always been there , not just added recently ,

I have the original on VHS too ...bit crackly these days though ,

That's the re-release that came out in the cinemas in 1981. I don't think the original 1977 version was ever released on VHS.
