our house has a small history, and a few things have happened in the past.

the other morning though, when my wife opened the living room door, the bar holding the two parts of the top hinge was fully removed. think of a door hinge - one part of metal is attached to the frame and the other to the door. when both sides are interlinked, a bar slides from the top down and holds the door to the frame. the bar in our door was pulled right upwards so that there wasnt anything holding the two parts of the hinge together.

Ive been living a houses all my life (naturally) but ive never seen this happen before. I know for a fact that at 3am the door was fine, as I was the last out of the living room. also, technically, would the weight of the door make it impossible for the bar to be pulled up in such a way through normal use?

the reason Im thinking paranormal is because about two weeks ago I asked the house (theres been so many little things happening over the past few years I tend to talk to the house - yes, sounds a bit mad alright) - anyway i asked the house, or the spirit or whatever it is, to do something that a) wouldnt freak the family out but b) would show me for certain that there is something going on.

Well, if the bar had been at an angle, its possible that the constant open/closing motion could have been slowly twisting the bar out of the hinge.

What immediately occurs to me is that it took two weeks to respond. Why would it wait two weeks?

clearly houses like to mull things over before they respond.. or it's possible their size means they think slower.. like the great a'tuin in the Discworld.

still, its good to see a moderator taking my thread so seriously. still leaves me with the original question - can a door fall off one of its hinges over night?

Moderators are only moderators of the forum they moderate ... just regular posters everywhere else.

Anyway its very possible that the pin bar worked its way up by general use, I've also heard of occassions where people will tap the bar out so they can break in. The do it bit by bit and break in at a later date.

Maybe a photo of the hinge?

The door was to the living room, so chances are it's an internal door which would rule out someone trying to break in. Also if the hinge was slowly working its way up then wouldn't it get progressively harder to open and close the door?

You didn't say where the bar was when your wife tried to open the door.
Also how does the bar fit into the rings, as in does it drop in from the top (and have to be raised out) or does it "raise up" from the base of the rings (in which case it could have came out more easily)?

Perhaps you could ask the "entity" to do something more definite; may leave a control object in a definite place overnight and ask for it to me moved.

Hiya, I was reading about your house. tell me are you happy with the events or would you rather not just help whatever is there pass over?

I had a good bit of trouble in my old house, which was brand new and built on a bad spot.. I cleared mine, but my neighbours were happy with the unusual activity! They dont know what I do...
