Hi guys. Just needed to write this here so I get some opinions. I've been going out with my girlfriend for 6 months (she's French). About 5 weeks ago she went back to France for a quick visit to her family. I'm sitting here today and she is still there. When she first went we texted every day, called each other every second day and she promised me that she would be back as soon as she could. Our relationship has always been good and we love each other very much.

About 3 weeks she texted me and told me she would be back on the weekend. So I waited and waited, the weekend came and she didn't come back. She called me the following wednesday and told me that she had been in hospital and had got her appendix removed, but she would be back in 2 weeks on the weekend (this weekend).

I've texted her, trid to call her but there is no response. The weekend has come and is over now and she has not come back. Its been stressing me so much that it just came to a head this afternoon and I broke down. I feel so betrayed, so hurt and so angry that somebody who I cared deeply about has just forgotten about me. I'm just sick with sadness now and don't know how I can go on. I know that sounds cliched, but I genuinely can't see any way forward..

Relax, its only been 5 weeks.

Maybe she missed her family more than she realised she did?

She shouldn't have to check in with you constantly, give her a break she's just had an operation! Like Thaedydal said, why haven't you tried to go over to her?

Invasive surgery comes with many complications including, infection and sometimes, not being able to fly. Look upon the break as a great way to examine your true feelings for each other, you clearly love the girl. If it does turn out she no longer wants contact with you then take this as a blessing mate, you could have been in so much deeper and it could have hurt so much more. Steel yourself with the thought, if she doesn't want you then she is not worth one more second of heartache.

ontheedge...French hospitals tend to keep patients in for a couple more weeks after invasive procedures moreso than Irish/English hospitals would.

Having your appendix out can leave you pretty immobile for a couple of weeks. Maybe she cannot txt/call from where she is right now, has run out of credit, etc, etc

If I was you, I would have flown out to see her in hospital, but I don't know your particular situation.

Can you call the hospital/her parents?

'Just to update, she has been in contact with her flatmate (who I work with) in the past week. She had sent her an email asking her why she wasn't coming back and explaining that I seem very messed up over the whole thing.

My "girlfriend" replied that she was very hurt that we would think that way, and that she will be back very soon.

So the flatmate gets an email and I still haven't recieved anything. Not a text, not a phone call, sweet **** all to be accurate. I came very close to doing something very stupid on Tuesday night (won't go into details here) over this girl and she is acting as if nothing is wrong.

I feel so angry over this and now I'm thinking that I'd be better off just calling this relationship finished. She couldn't be bothered to contact me, so I'm thinking I couldn't be bothered with her anymore.

I'm sorry if I'm whining here, but I feel so ****ed over by all of this I just don't know what to do.'

all you can do is seethe quitely for now, she will probably contact u eventually, and when she does if the explanation is not plausabile, kick her to the kerb. that said u have to set a point where u say to yourself (if she hasn contacted u in say a week) thats it, tiem to move on. easier said than done, worst thing would be no contact. u need some sort of closure either way otherwise it will alwaysniggle u. good luck'
