well im trying to get my old pc to work so i can use it with my lcd tv so i can view videos and stuff on it in my room since the main pc is in another room..

the old computer never had any problems but when i took it out today to connect to tv..it wont go any further than saying windows is starting up and the windows blue background just before the welcome screen..

i tryed putting dban on both usb drive and cd-r but wont load off either..i wanted to wipe the drive and then put the os back on..

is there any way i could reformat or install an os over this os without going as far as the windows starting up screen because thats where it freezes..??

    thanks

Do you have an os cd. You could boot from that and reinstall.

You will have to go into the bios and set the boot order to ensure that the cd is the first one on the list. At the bios screen it should say press F2 or some other key to get into the bios.

In there look for boot order and change it so cd is first on the list and then try again.

Edit:Shat lol. got phone call in the middle of typing

You need to go into bios (press F2 or DEL key)
and set the system to boot from cd first
