Gabhain is correct. The code to dial from here to the states is 01. Dialling from the states you put 011 before the international code

you dont put a 011? thats for dialing into America isnt it?

    say the house number is 01 - 111 11 11, you would call 00353 1 111 11 11

00353 gets you into Ireland and replaces the 0 before the normal number=/

    i think:D

This is the case for calling Ireland from most countries - but not all. It's 011 from the US. And it's 07 in Spain (at least it used to be). Best bet is to use the +symbol before the 353 which will automatically detect the correct code - this might not be an option from a pay phone.
