i'm looking at buying a new bike

    i've had a vespa, VTR 250 and a BMW F650GS before.

i'd buy a bigger VTR or the BMW again in second but
i'm a bit out of the way here. So I am thinking that i'd stick with something the local dealers sell and service.

Its honda, harley , Truimph ,Suzuki or Kawasakiaki

the retro Truimphs look quite nice bit i was wondering is there any thign to be concerned about.

i seem to rememebr a rave review in the irish times a year or so ago.

would anyone here have one ?

I had an '03 Triumph Thunderbird Sport and thought it was absolutely fantastic, really well built, solid, dependable. Never had any problems with it and found the performance in general to be beyond expectations. I think the modern Triumphs - be they retro designs or not - are really top notch motorcycles, would certainly recommend them to anyone.

EDIT: I should add, the high pipes on the Scrambler look good but they're impractical for daily usage (eg using throw-overs). Of the two Triumphs you mention, I'd definitely pick the Bonneville - nice style but also something you will get a lot of use out of.

No offence meant to Mr. Wheler, but I would look further afield in terms of bike reviews than the Irish Times. Before buying a bike, the first thing you should do is visit that bike's most popular online forum, and start reading. You'll get an idea for how many lemons come out of the factory, the typical issues that arise, service costs and intervals,

That' a fair point - you could start here for example:

Take a look at the Suzuki V Strom 650. Its a lot like the BMW F650GS in design. I read a lot of good things about them when I was changing last time, I ended up buying the BMW as the seat height suited me better.
