well lads, the lads in my office did a sweep for the grand national and there was a small prize fo first faller. As both tikram and Point Barrow departed at the first i thought they'd share the prize but no, they are arguing over which one of these horses actually unseated/fell first ot of the two.

I've looked at it on youtube a load of times but haven't a clue. Anyone know?

I'm pretty sure it was Point Barrow but I'd need to watch the race again to confirm it.

Point Barrow actually fell and the other horse, I think Tikram, unseated.
there is NO question to answer with it, Point Barrow was the 1st faller

it wasn't a case of who fell first but who departed the race first.

    sorry for confusion!!!

I checked the Racing Post site for the detailed result. It shows Point Barrow fell and Tikram unseated his rider. So the person who has Point barrow wins, in my opinion.
If they both fell at the first my opinion would be it was a tie (but they didn't both fall). Imagine one fell at the first, and the other horse was 100 yards behind him, and when he got to the fence he also fell. The decision that the first to fall would give the prize to the faster of the two horses. What would you do if ten horses fell at the first at around the same time. Would it be the first to touch the ground?

    Point Barrow
    rear-division, fell 1st

    Tikram
prominent, blundered and unseated rider 1st

Based on the above it looks like Tikram was with the leaders as they came to the first fence and (probably) was the first to go. It looks like Point Barrow was at the back of the field and fell when he got to the fence.

It's all in the wording of the question alright. I presume, when they strucj the bet they drafted up the standard 6 page terms and conditions?

Very childish arguing over that imo. I feel like aftertiming and getting myself banned for backing a nag at 48s.

agree its a bit childish but they asked me as i'm the only person in the ofice who's interested in racing. Think the statemnet when they did the sweep was first faller in which case it should surely be point barrow but they actually meant first faller/unseat/BD.

Thanks for the input, hopefully they lads in here will put their toys back in pram now!!!
