Tibet?

    Hey everyone.

I'm traveling to China this summer via Hong Kong. The plan is to travel on the Qingzang high altitude railway which runs from Beijing to Lhasa.

Concrete information about visa requirements for Tibet has been hard to find. The Chinese are unsurprisingly vague on the point. I have read that it may not be possible to board the train without appropriate documents.

Has anyone travelled to Tibet on a Chinese visa before? Any information about visa requirements?

    Thanks.

As far as I know, you need to get a permit to visit Tibet. You can pick those up in most travel agents near the border in China. Try thorntree.lonelyplanet.com for more updated info!

Or do what everyone else does and go to Thailand for a couple of days where you can get a travel document for practically anywhere in the world for the right price.

Aussie friend of mine got an Irish working visa there : )

BTW. This is not illegal, just in case you guys wanted to call mods..
