Which do you find easier to do, write the lyrics and then the music around them or vice versa??

I think it depends on the genre of music youre dealing with...

depending on which is more important: lyrics or music... story or catchy

Personally i have the tune and some basic lyrics first and work to polish the lyrics ...

Lyrics if I have something to specific to say, music if I'm just jamming something out on a guitar and then like the sound of it.

I have such a problem writing lyrics, most probably from lack of practice, that a blank page will just stare at me for hours, I write snippets and phrases when i come home drunk from the pub, and then wake up to find a bunch of crap.

I'm going to try recording a finished song musically and then just start singing anything over the top and hopefully come up with something to go with for my next song.
