    Hi there,

I'm about to purchase a new dell 9200 and as this will be my first PC there's a couple of issues I need clarity on.
    1) Will 3yr old digital camera (Canon), 1yr old HDD video camera (JVC) and 2year old iPod be compatible with windows vista?
    2) Dell charge an installation fee of e100. Is this just for connecting it up and turning it on, or is there much more to it? (I think Vista is pre-installed).
    3) 2G RAM is 2*1gig or (no cost option) 4*512m. Which is preferable?

    Dimension 9200
    Intel Viiv E6400 2.13Ghz 1066mHz 2MB
    Dell 20'' W/A Dig/An Ultra Sharp (2007FPW)
    Vista Home Premium
    640G (2*320)
    2gig RAM DDR2 667mHz
    16*DVD+-RW
    GeForce 7900GS graphics card
    Sound Blaster xFi Xtreme Music
    Dell 5650 5.1 Surround
13 in 1 media card reader
    MS Works 8.0
    Dell V92 modem

The above will cost e1430 including discounts. Does it seem a sound purchase? also opinions on the sound/graphics/monitor appreciated..

    thanks for your time

    1) Yes, but you will have to download new drivers from the makers websites
    2) They just come and plug it in, Not worth it at all.
    3) 2gb if you are going with vista 2*1gb would be more preferable, as you can add in the same again at a later date to get 4gb.

The spec you have picked will be a great multimedia pc. good for gaming and all that. But if you dont plan on playing games, drop the graphics card off and go for a x1300.

Also, do you need a 20" screen? would a 17" not suit you more? And it will save you a nice bit. unless itts a free upgrade.

You can always ring dell too, im sure they are willing to help you out. And the sales people dont run on comission, so you dont have to worry about them ripping you off and making you buy something you dont need.

For that money you are making a mistake. TBH. Build a rig or get a guy from boards to build it for you. OCUK prices are really great AS are komplett.

The above is so much better than what dell would ever offer you. And it'll save you over two hundred quid on the dell price delivered. Assembly is easy.
Dell are ok. I don't like them at all but there builds are ok. I hate their laptops. Very bulky and really the quality of the parts if you buy individually will be much better. Plus I made your rig dx10 compatible.
