Buying Art online & customs

    Hi All

    Maybe this is a really dumb question but I am buying an art piece from someone in Germany. When they are shipping it to me should they label it as a gift so I do nt get charged by customs or is art exempt from charges?

    As you're buying from Germany there is no additional VAT or duties to be paid on Art or any other product as Germany are in the EU. - Same applies to each of the 22 EU states.

    Also if you are buying an original piece of Art from outside the EU, there is no Duty on it but there is 21% VAT.
