C&C (beginner) Clare Glen and some American Football pics

Some advice I received here about taking rugby pics would apply here too...

You may be better to get pics from the ends of the pitch rather than the sides as you'll get some facial expressions.

WRT to American Football specifically, anytime I've taken pics I tended to forget about shots of the line of scrimmage, they all look the same particularly the O line. It helps if you know the playbook and you can plan ahead for what shots to take. If you know there's a running play for example, you can focus on the RBs and your action shot is the hand off. Likewise, if it's a pass, it helps to know where the ball is going (and to whom) so you can get some great shots of passes or even a nice hit as the receiver takes the ball.

Hopefully I'll get along to some Dragons games in the coming weeks and I can put that into practice for myself again!

On a not entirely unrelated point, the QB looks like he's throwing off the wrong foot in the second pic. His right foot should be planted. Also, the RT's three point stance in the first pic isn't great either, he needs to get his ar$e out of the air! Not much you can do about that though!

    Keep up the work.

Some great pictures there, love the Clare/Glen ones. Funny seeing Irish blokes playing AF. Colours are great nice and sharp too. Well done

Cheers. Am gonna go back this weekend to Clare Glen and hopefully can improve on those pics.

As for the Af. Was my first AF game so they were the pics I thought I would get first. Next time I will stay near an end line and get ... 'hopefully' a close up action shot :)

if you're on the side though, it's easier to run up and down to follow the action, unless one team is camped on the other's line for the majority of the match.
the far sideline is much nearer than the far try line.

The Clare Glens is a great spot for trying out new stuff. I go there quite a bit and I always find something new.

I like your 2nd and 3rd Clare Glens shots, especially the way the steps in the background lead you further into the photo. In the third shot the water is a little over-exposed for my liking, but I know myself that it's impossible to get a perfect exposure because all of the trees make the water dark, while the trees themselves are bright. But they are great shots all the same. Keep it up!

True, you'll get to follow the action, but my own experience is that it's worth waiting for the action to come to you for a few quality action shots (and don't forget, if the drive ends, you can always go to the other end-zone) than staying along the sideline for thw whole game.

Cheers. I really like the steps in those shots. Am gonna go back this weekend and try again to get a better shot of the steps/water.
