did anyone see the old woman from the jewellery shop who knew all about desmond in the photo? weird! As he only meet penny in the same episode shortly after leaving the monks office . i have a fealing desmond has a big part to play yet. a reculant hero in the making? discuss

Yeah saw that too, her name is Mrs Hawkings i think, bit of a reference to Stephen Hawkings I suppose. I'm guessing she'll be the one who explains about time travel on the island in laymans terms. I didn't like the previous bit when she was talking to Desmond in London. it was a bit too much like the Matrix with Neo and the Oracle which was rubbish!

I think you'll find a discussion on that photo in the 'Catch 22' thread.

As for Desmond having to play a big part, big time. He's the only character we know of at the moment who has someone actively looking for him, maybe even found him judging by the last episode. We're gonna see a hell of a lot more Des mefeels.

Actually i just watched the scene again and yes you are very right. It does sound like she is almost preaching much like the Oracle in the Matrix. The all knowing person.

I saw it when watching the ep, mostly because the photoshopping of the photo was so bad it caught my eye, causing an 'omg easter egg' moment

Surely going by the cable tv broadcasts we saw in the Flame when Ben went to Mikhail with Juliet, the rest of the world is (or at least was) looking for them over the Pacific Ocean (big place, I know!)
Wouldn't it be a killer if Penny decided to stop looking for him after her chopper failed to do any good?

Yeah but after almost 100 days, you would think that they would be starting to give up the search.
