It says €699 is the regular price in the weekly offers section so it seems the price has dropped anyway, although you get an extra €20 off this week.

It's available here for a over a ton less: http://www3.hardwareversand.de/8VIWRr_XTYYVm1/3/articledetail.jsp?aid=8859&agid=568. And the shipping is reasonable too!

Excellent TV, was retailing for the guts of €1500 this time last year.
It's the 32" model of the one MS used to demo the 360s at launch.

They had this over at www.technikdirekt.de for €559 and there delivery is real good form what I hear, both on price and reliability. However, I just checked this evening and its no longer there, t'is vanished. I would imagine that the production on these things is over and the sweet price being offered must be to clear the last line.

Anybody have this model as I am thinking about getting it for a PS3. Form what I hear, most lcds do games and dvds or HD well, but can be patchy on digital satellite. Can anybody offer some insights to using Sky with this set. I am only concerned with how it looks on the high but-rate channels such as sky sports, sky movies, RTE, BBC.

I am really tempted to splurge on this set, someone nudge me into doing it :D

I had one of these last year and paid €1600 for it :( , great set, well worth every cent.

    At €679 it's a proper bargin.

Do they let you pay by credit card or is it one of them German sites that needs bank draft etc.?

I think I might buy one of these for running Windows Media Centre in my small enough living room. Would it be ok for occassional xbox 360 use too?

I'd also be using it for web browsing in the living room - can picture in picture let me do this while watching something from my NTL set-top box directly? I'd plan on having 5.1 surround sound so doubt I'd be using the speakers on the tv.

Overall, it seems like a great deal to my novice eyes, wonder am I missing something big?

    Hi,
You guys should be aware that this is the "cheap" Samsung 32R, not the one that is typically sold in Curry's/Dixons. This model only appeared just before Christmas on some online stores (including Komplett.ie) and it is believed to use cheaper Panels than the other Samsung 32R models i.e. the 32R41/32R51/R77 etc. I believe it actually uses a CMO panel rather than Samsung's own S-PVA panels, but it has the same basic features of the more expensive Samsungs.
Over on AVForums there is a big discussion about panels on Samsungs as some of the more expensive Samsungs also have the CMO panels, they believe that Samsung initially shipped with their own panels and when they got good reviews they switched to using cheaper panels.
Its not just Samsung that are doing this, its the same with the cheap LG models, they actually use CMO panels rather than the ones they manufacture themselves.
Just to be warned. I have a Samsung 32R41 that I bought last year and I have an cheaper LG with a CMO panel and I think the older Samsung is better at say watching football (though for some things the new model is better - i.e. better black levels). But I should say it is all subjective.
