can you ask your a doc for a blood test during a visit?

hi, In the last year i have had a load of colds and flu's. Now i eat quite healthy and i keep fit with sports, gym etc and i am very active, i dont understand how i get sick so easily. Can i ask my doc to run aload of blood tests during a general check up? or will he/she only run them if they think its necessary??
