Hah! Only just noticed this had been out a while - not sure how it crept under my radar :/

The reviews i've read seem mostly positive but would appreciate some feedback from any boardsies who've played it :)

Worth getting? Better than the original? Worse? Are the new gameplay additions anything to write home about?

    Cheers.

I have played the first one and am currently three quaters my way through this
    one.
It is fairly good but two gripes about it is that it is a bit short only four cases and there is no ds exclusive level like case 5 on the first one which used the ds's touch screen quite well. All in all its alright I think they should put more ds intrecativity in it

Hmm certainly not up to the standards of the first one. The cases have gotten even more absurd and clearly lots has been lost in translation. The second case especially will have you pulling hairs - psychics? Halfway through the third now and seems much better.
If you liked the first, still highly recommended, but prepare for a little disapointment.

PS I recommend importing it the American / Japanese versions are much cheaper.

I'm playing at the moment. It's not as good as the first one. I think the overall arc isn't as good, and the new music is poor. There's barely any addition to the gameplay, and all the DS specific stuff that came up in the bonus case last time is absent.
That said, it's still enjoyable, amusing and fun.

If you liked the first one you'll like this one. Its basically more of the same but there is no DS specific cases on this one. They dont kick in again until Ace attorney 4, which has just been released in Japan.

Also its only €20 on play-asia. You cant go wrong

Cheers, thanks for the feedback guys.

If I'm thinking of the same one (energetic inspiring music, when you've got the prosecutor on the ropes), then it's either gone or very infrequent, as I don't recall hearing it at all. :(

Yup, thats the one. Tis inspiring stuff - how can i win the case without it?! :/

Maybe I'm missing something, but what happened to part 3?

It's out on GBA in Japan, and Capcom are making an American/European version, which I assume will be on the DS, and probably released in Japan too.

I would echo the same comments here, if you liked the first game, you'll like this one. But probably not as much. And yea, the new music is weak.

The best part about the game for me was the final case... definetly worth playing through the more mediocre chapters in the game.

The next game will be called Phoenix Wright: Trials and Tribulations, the third game in the series and another GBA port. Should be out here by the end of the year, but once again I notice the Japanese version is up on Play-Asia with selectable English option. I'll be getting that once they recieve their stock.

    That's phoenix wright 1...
4 doesn't have an english language option, and 3 will be released in the states before Japan afaik.

Does anyone know if there's any truth in the rumour that the US version of Phoenix Wright 2 has a better English translation than the Japanese one?

Well, I've never played the Japanese one, but I have the American import, on the third case, and there's a gaggle of misspelt words and there also seems to be a little bit lost in translation.

Yup they have a special localising team that redid the script as far as I know. I havent played the Japanese one, so can't compare, but I do know the American / European ones go through a vigorous translation process, and I assume the story changes somewhat in the process.

While it's not as good as the first for reasons mentioned above, it's still a really great game. The comedy is still absolute gold. (Subtle pokémon joke in the fourth case had me laughing out loud.)

I don't think the translation was significantly worse than the original. I got the American version a few weeks ago and theres the usual American spellings you get in any game, there's also a few words just plain mispelt, but I remember it being the same in the first game.
