Sorry bout the spellin it should be Grindhouse.I`ve seen it and i liked the first film Planet Terror by Robert but Quentin`s Death Proof is not that good and has let the side down. The fake trailers are very funny Robert`s Machette, Rob Zombie`s Werewolf women of the s.s. and so on.

    Anyone else see it

any truth to the rumour it will be released as two seperate movies in cinemas outside USA, will suck if thats the case

Apparently in the U.S. there was people who didn't understand it was two films back-to-back and walked out after the first one, thinking it was over. And afaik they may be re-releasing it in the U.S. as two seperate films as well.

Saw the eli roth trailer for thanksgiving and nearly p'd myself laughing. Roth also gave a great quote when asked was he going to do a romance or comedy genre film any time soon..

"I think that Thanksgiving is very romantic! There's a very romantic scene in the car with Jordan Ladd and I think it's comedic"

    :p

There's all ready a Grindhouse thread here.

The plans to rerelease the films individually in America has been squashed due to them both testing quiet poorly as seperate films.

They can only be released as a double bill otherwise the whole raison d'etre is undermined.

    Mike.

from what I hear, every country in Europe, except Ireland and England, are going to have them as two seperate films. However we will be fortunate enough to get them as they were meant to be :D I can't wait to see it!

Thats my understanding too. Non-English speaking countries only will be getting two movies under the Grindhouse series name.

Only in (sorry bout the term) non-english speaking countries will the two films be released seperate

    To my understanding any way

My favorite online podcast movie show, filmspotting.net, preferred Tarrantino's half so I'm even more curious now seeing as everyone else seems to be saying otherwise.

Ive made a conscious effort to try an avoid reviews but the impression I have been getting is that the ciritcs seem to think QT's half was better but the general concensus amongst moviegoers is RR's planet terror is the better film.

It was supposed to be June but then it flopped in the states and the distributor pulled it. They are now splitting it into two separate films. An recut/extended version of the Tarantino segment Death Proof in September. No plans for Planet Terror, it'll probably end up going straight to dvd.

I watched Planet Terror last night. It was...ok. Some great gore and violence though. Will watch Death Proof tonight.

I second the source on this info.

As far as I am aware of, the 1st of June release of Grindhouse in the UK & Ireland has been put on hold temporarily as the Weinsteins and Momentum Pictures (UK/Ireland distributor) try to regroup and figure out the best possible strategy. The split has only been confirmed in non-English speaking countries but has not been confirmed for the UK and Ireland yet.

The U.S. dvd will probably be out by then, although it's being rumoured that will be split as well.

Disaster.. Was really looking forward to the back to back cinematic experience, but to be honest wouldn't be bothered going to see these separately.

I reckon they'll end up screwing up at the box office even more by splitting the two movies (even with an extended Death Proof). Why would anyone go to the cinema to see half-of a two-part experience? It's reminiscent of the European Playstation 3 fiasco - you pay more, but you get less...

Thats bad news. I was really looking forward to this one but doubt I'd bother with them separately. I love going to cinema double bills so 2 films made for the experience was ideal. I just hope now that they still release them together on DVD in US and I'll pick up a copy.

    Bad news all round though,

Well thats a total joke! So to see what was meant to be one film will cost us about 20euro. Its all about the $$$$ and the money grabbers arent getting mine. What is it with Tarantino! Kill Bill was supposed to be one film too!

I saw a trailer last night in cineworld still advertising the double feature, strange strategy.

and paying 16 euro instead of 8......grr

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,404 ✭✭✭qwertplaywert

I still kinda want to see these in the cinema despite being absolutely overcome with rage.

What I plan to do is buy a ticket for a different movie and sneak in. No way are those b8stards getting a penny of my money for this one. They have shot themselves in the foot.

BTW this thread needs a merge

That's a load of balls. They shouldn't ruin movies like that, by splitting them in two. If they're not gonna be released as one, I'll have to try and find it online somewhere. That's really disappointing.
