Slow Broadband in Galway?

Just checking - is your NTL broadband connection very, very slow as well?

It's absolutely impossible to use at the moment, pages take up to 5 minutes to load (or terminate with a "page not found" error). Rang NTL, they said there's no problem in Galway, but I know that 3 people in my area have exactly the same problem...

    Anyone any info on this?

(NTL told me yesterday arvo that someone from the broadband team will ring me back within 12 - 24 hours - but I would have to be at home...yeah, right, so I'll take a day off to wait for someone to tell me to restart my computer, right? FFS...)

Hmmm might be better to post this in the Tech->Nets and Comms->Broadband

Hmmm my broadband has been rather sluggish the last while ... the last 3 - 4 months have pretty much been a disaster ... I'd move from NTL but I'm lazy :D ... and I really don't want a phone line

I was just about to post a topic about NTL.

My god, they have been pissing me off so unbelievably much. Our internet connection has been gone all weekend (since thursday possibly.. not too sure) and is only just after coming back. But apparently this is affecting a lot of people.

And it gets worse, they charged us a lot of money when we shouldn't have been paying anything whatsoever. Which also seems to have happened to a lot of people.

How are they getting away with it? I think they need to be named and shamed.

Same problem, i'm getting so fed up with NTL, i have phoned to complain and they just don't seem to care. Also you can't call the "free phone number" anymore from a mobile, i had to call a dublin number from my mobile and was on hold for 10 mins before i hung up, when i went to a pay phone to call the 1800 no. a guy on the phone told me that they were having "technical problems" and asked me to call back  .

Haven't had much problems in the last two weeks, just an occasional 10 minute downtime.

No point ringing NTL, they said a technician would call me back within 24 hours its now been nearly 3 weeks.
