Removing lens fungus

Last week I bought what I thought was a right bargain on ebay.

Got a fellas entire 35mm collection, including a f1.4 50mm Pentax lens I'd been wanting, which he hadn't properly described.
This lead to the auction ending well below its true value.

Thing is this lens has quite a lot of fungus within it.
There's a bit near the center and a lot around the edges.

Are there many places in Ireland, specifically near Cork, that can clean lens?
If so how much do they charge for the service?

    thanks

    Some good information here ,

    http://www.chem.helsinki.fi/~toomas/photo/fungus/

The lens will have to be taken apart and cleaned with methylated spirits , this may cost you a considerable amount of money so it depends on how good the lens actually is , what is the model of the lens , if its a cheapo , just write it off as a bad buy and get a new one , if its a pro lens , its probably worth getting done , but unless you are a camera tech , dont try it yourself , you'll only wreck it !!

is there no way to put it in a sealed container with fungicide in it? not immersing it but just letting it go in the same way the fungus did? I could be talking out of my a** though.

nah... it won't be easy and cheap. The lens must be completely disassembled. And don't do that at home!

that might kill the fungus, but you'd probably just have a lens full of dead fungus rather than live funus.
