i got bored after reading 1 and 2.

hand 1 - i think calling is really marginal. i only call because im a station and think a river fold is correct. he has played the hand like he has a set. maybe ur thought processes were swayed by ur misclick blocker bet...

i think 2 is a pretty easy fold. he's never bluffing here, nor has he suddenly gone wild with Tx. your hand is pretty much face up IMO, JQ, Tx or a boat, meaning his river shove is always for value and always has you crippled.

    1's fine i think.

    2. seems like a moron, I wouldn't fold. c/d

    3. ugh.

    4, sigh.

    6. check turn/fold river?

    rest seem fairly standard. sick.

    1) fold turn, He has AK a lot there

    2) raise flop, variance

    3) you raised UTG, he reraised OOP, no history, bad spot to do this

    4) LOLZ

    5) variance

    6) standard

    7) He's a fish, he doesnt float

    8) standard

    9) yep

    10) fold turn. It's a relativly draw free board

i dont think anyone unless really bad, will try to get 3 streets of value in there with ace king nor would they shove the river with it. I think ace king is really really really unlikely and AK would hate that river, not come over the top.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,754 ✭✭✭ianmc38

Hand 2 isnt variance. Your beaten 99% of the time there. I think its a really bad call.

I havent read them all but it looks like you are being too aggressive, especially on the turn and river, and are trapping yourself

1/ I think its a good spot to raise preflop. If i do cold call and i hit TP its with the intention to fold to serious action. I don't see how our hand is ever good on the river here. I might even consider folding on the trun , me
    > nit :)

2/ I might raise the flop .Your not getting the odds to draw even though his bet size does SUCK so if not i also considering fold even if you do hit alot of the time your still beat. As played i am always folding to the river i can't see us ever being good.

3/ I understand you rep a set here but I think this one is complete spew. Ak folds and thats it ( Which your already ahead of. ) Do you often push with a set in this spot ?? Your hand is now a stone cold bluff and looking at the PF action i can't see anyway this push is +EV in the long run.

4/ I don't see anything wrong here. But IMO if you are going to push like in the last hand you should be also be raising when you do hit the set on similar flops like in this hand.

    5/ This is fine imo.

6/ Meh i am not sure about this. Is a bet really better on the turn than a check ? I don't think it matters much

On the river i think your getting like 2/1 but after you have fired two street how often does he come out bluffing i hate it but make a crying call.

7/ When he calls on such a dry fold i shut down. Me
    > nit !!

8/ I check this river nut its fine. Me
    > nit

    9/ This is fine imo.

10/ I think the turn is a fold but i would prob call. Meh i guess we got to call on the river but i hate it !.

11/ This hand was played superbly ..... You Da man.

12/ I am check folding the turn here. Nit
me. I think you have turned your hand into a bluff here and i don't see why. AJ may fold but i doubt it.

    13/ Its fine imo.

    14/ Its fine imo.

15/ Its fine imo ..... i know we can't win without betting but in this case i think it would be spew here.

    16/ Its fine imo.

17/ Meh i want to be nitty here but don't think i would be :)

    18/ You da man.

    19/ I fold the turn.

I have too say if i had been playing this session with you i think i would have in my notes .... overvalues TP. Maybe i am wrong but that was my over riding feeling after i finished reading this.

    Opr

hand 1 fold the turn unless you have a read. A tight guy should always have you beat on the turn.

hand 2 is unlucky, but you drew to a straight on a paired board which is always going to be a high varience option.

hand 3 I dont expect an overpair to fold much.He called you with 99 which shows how unsuccessfull a bluff it was. A good player may fold 99 TT JJ there though, if you had the right image

hand 4 a guy with a aggression factor of .8 is not going to be bluffing the river there very much. There were no draws on the flop and you lose to all other sets bar one. I think this is probably a fold.

    hand 5 is just unlucky

hand 6 is unlucky, id check that turn sometimes.

Hand 7 I dont really get, he doesnt have much money so he is never folding and his range beats yours

    Hand 8 is unlucky

Hand 9 Is it $400 to you? Do you think he is bluffing there much? I think I would fold, but I dont know the bluffing (or smaller pair) frequency of a player at 5 10

Hand 10 I think you should fold preflop, utg + 1 with QJ is probably a loser

    There is no hand 11!

Hand 12 The only most probable draw got there and you just put him all in, I think you make it difficult for him to call with a worse hand. Check calling may be a better way to go broke

    Hand 13 is fine

    Ill do the rest later

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,754 ✭✭✭ianmc38

Hand #3 Dont like this at all. No overpair is ever folding IMO.

Hand #4 I think you can fold the river

    Hand #5 Is fine

    Hand #6 is fine

Hand #7 I'd just check fold the turn.

Hand #8 I usually need a specific reason to bet all 3 streets with KQ on a Q high board. I think checking the turn and vbetting the river might be better

Hand #9 I dont think i can fold for 260 more because of the chance he has a bare flush draw or TT.

Hand #10 I'd definitely fold preflop. I think the river is a fold. I doubt he's bluffing much here.

Hand #12 Agree with HJ. Check calling is much better than shoving here.

    Hand #13 is standard.

    Hand #14 is just unlucky

Hand #15 is fine. I think a river bet gets looked up here always.

    Hand #16 looks fine

Hand #17 I cant really say without some form of read. Against an unknown who limped in LP i might just fold to the flop raise.

Hand #19 Looks fine. I'd check that flop quite alot.

Just a generic question about hand #1. (Bit confused SB &BB order of betting don't = sitting arrangements, anyway) If you've called a raise on the BB from an early position raiser, and the flop has hit you (and u have to act first), shouldn't you bet out to see where ur at? If he calls, alarms bell goes off, yea? You have to start thinking about his hand range. If he raises, then you decide if the hands worth playing. Same on turn, etc.

Is my thinking too fuzzy, too timid, etc?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,141 ✭✭✭ocallagh

ok I haven't looked at anyone elses so this should be fun.

#1: You are ahead of flush draw and KJ. I don't mind folding here as calling off with TP against 2 full pot sized bets on flop/turn is generally a bad idea. If villain was regularly firing 2 barrells then it's different, but there's nothing in your comments to suggest that. I suppose I call the river though.

#2: I call flop because it is so cheap but I don't put much more money into the pot on a paired board. I fold the turn. With the two tens out there I can't see you extracting much money from a worse hand on the river, so your implied odds are horrible here. I defo fold river unless the guy was a total maniac.

#3: I give up on the flop unless my opponent was a very weak TAG, in which case your bluff might work. He prob should have folded 99 here but with no history he'll prob stack off with overpair a lot here so I don't like it.

    #4: wp, ul.

    #5: wp, ul.

    #6: I don't know. I prob call... ul I suppose.

#7: This is a total bluff by you... and because of the pot size you might only get a bluff to fold. I don't think I push here, alarm bells on flop (because of his stack size) and I c/f.

#8: Check behind on river I think.

#9: Standard enough I suppose. Considering stacks: I might check flop. Your line on the flop really only gets called/raised by a range that crushes you. By checking flop you allow him to play the rest of the pot with a wider range.

#10: ul here. Similar to hand #1, I don't like calling off two barrells with TP (medium kicker).

    #11:there was no 11:)

#12: Why push on the turn? He will only call when ahead. I definitely check the turn here considering stack sizes and allow him to bluff the spade a small % of the time.

    #13: standard.

#14: standard, ul wp. I'd consider checking behind on turn considering you have Kd and allow him to bluff the river a small bit, however a bad player will go broke with lone Ad on turn and will not do so on river so it's much of a muchness.

#15:I get the feeling you are on tilt! Your opponents don't seem to respect your raises, lol! That or they are all useless. cbet is ok. If I've been playing tight I defo cbet here, but I give up if they call (as you did). I might rep a scare card if it feels right. If I've been playing loose I c/f this quite a bit but sometimes cbet and rep AA with a shove on the turn:) high variance play is fun. If you decide to c/f this and get a check behind on flop you can rep a few scare cards on turn too.
    #16:seems fine.

#17: not enough draws on flop so your opponents range includes lots of 9's that beat you. I fold to his raise.

    #18: missing

#19: seems ok. I prob fold turn but that mght be a bit weak. hmm..

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,141 ✭✭✭ocallagh

summary: you are playing a bit loose and running bad. 5/10 used to be about getting re-raises in with the likes of QJ etc (when NLHE was fun)... but I think it's full of grinders nowadays so their ranges are much tighter in general.

My own comments on these hands [apart from the BBV ones]

#1 I feel preflop and flop are 100% standard, apart from squeezing preflop sometimes. I think turn can go either way but that folding is probably a little better, this guy is very aggressive and my hand looks pretty weak though so there is a strong argument for calling. Once I get to the river with the busted flush on the board I think shoving is good. Once I misclick min bet, I dunno wtf. I think I have to call though

#2 I think I played this hand fine and wouldnt change it, I think anybody suggesting folding the river is mad though when you consider this guys stats

#3 I was tilting a bit at this time and I dont usually make plays liek this. In fact, I usually drop this preflop. but i think its a reasonable play against someone if i know they 3 bet at all light, because even when he calls me with an Op i have like 23% equity nd theres already 400 in the pot and he'll have to fold alot of hands up to and including JJ imo. given hes an unknown I think it sucks though

    #4 bbv
    #5 bbv

#6 I think my line here is fine, but that checking the turn can be reasonable too. I think I prefer betting here though But im not sure. I think river call is fine because I cant really put him on a hand that beats me unless he has exactly QXd

#7 this hand was just stupid, I should just fold the turn or maybe call once. I put too much emphasis on the fact that he was a fish

    #8 is fine imo

#9 is fine again imo, its only 250 back to me no way I can fold, I think he will have draw/bluff/underpair more than enough

#10 I think I should fold on the turn or the river, probably on turn though because although I have a draw it has like no implied odds

#12 this one is interesting imo and im unsure as to what the correct line is here, I usuually just do what I did and shove to stop him from taking a free card with a spade. I think he will check back almost everything I beat but he can call with worse hands alot so im happy enough here but I think its open to debate

#13 I think I should check back the turn again but Its ok to bet

    #14 bbv

    #15 fine

    #16 is fine

#17 i think i should just fold on the flop vs an unknown but that this isnt terrible

#19 i think is fine, and I could fold turn but its marginal

i think you are to aggressive in spots where their is an over card to your pair or that some player outkicks you.. the feel from the list is that your opponents are trapping you, and letting you do all their their betting.

very rarely has an another player come over the top of you preflop, and lot of times their have a powerful starting hands. this must mean they have a good read on you as player who will not release a hand and will pay off with any top pair or overpair to the board..
i think you should throw in some more feeler bets post flop, and not always bet pot postflop and almost committ yourself to the pot..
