Is Mel Gibson in it? Not Maverick by any chance?

A film came into my head that i saw probably 15 years ago but i dunno what its called.
It was a western type film based on a game of poker.
I remember that one guy was pretty well beaten until he got a really good hand but had already bet everything, he then gives the cards to a woman/wife (before he's dragged out of the bar) and says "do not lay these cards down").
Then the woman goes around the town asking shop owners and bank managers for a loan to bet with this hand.... all the investors are 'amazed' with her hand and she secures a big loan.
I think in the end it was a bluff...

toffee apple for whoever gets this for me.

Oh! I defo know that film. Its not Maverick but I think it is a comedy style western.

    This Boy's Life....
De Niro plays a baxtard character so brilliantly that by the end of the film I actually hate dRobert de Niro, and not just his character. Good film.
