Computer Crashing!

    Hey,

    Am having a strange problem with my new build.
    First off it is running vista, which at the beginning i thought was the problem, but now im thinking it may be the HD...

    the hd with my os on it is a western digital 200gb sata drive, which sits on top of a 500gb sata maxtor one.

    The problem is, someitmes when i re-start (or i get a BSOD) just before the vista logo appears the screen goes black.....and stays that way and it wont load the os. i dont get any error codes...it just stays black. the only way to fix it is to restore from a backup!

    Ive tried uninstalling various bit of software..ie:nero, Avg etc but it still happens!!

    I have vista on my HTPC, and it hasnt crashed once...so thats what made me think it could be the HD...

    Any ideas?

    Run a low level scandisk on the drive and see what that throws up.

    Check the RAM with Memtest+ or use Vista's built in RAM checker which can be found under admin tools in the control panel.

    nothing came up under the mem test either..... its happening around 2ce a day now!

    ive ordered a new HD of komplett....it has to be the HD...i have tried everything else!!!
