This year, final year exams

I've just heard two conflicting reports about repeats for this years final years:

1: That any exams failed will have to be retaken at Christmas.

2: That exams failed means having to repeat the year (because there are no Autumn exams), but have your final result - your degree- capped at a 3rd, or a D or whatever the new system goes by.

Can anyone tell me which of these, if either is true?

    Depends on the course.

3rd commerce, which last year would have had autumn repeats, has xmas repeats, no cap on marks.
However a cap will be introduced for next years final years (ie the current second years)

    REPEATS GUIDANCE FOR NON-MODULAR STUDENTS

This guidance relates to all non-modular programmes and, typically, covers final stages of all currently modularised programmes.

If your programme has not yet been modularised, or if your programme is operating under transitionary rules, the traditional repeat rules apply. This means that where autumn repeats were available in the past they are still available, and where they were traditionally not available they are not available this year (for example, the final year of the BA, and the BSocSc programmes have not offered Autumn repeat examinations).

Please contact your Programme Office or the Student Desk at +353 1 716 1555 or by email at studentdesk@ucd.ie.

From an email everyone got in January. So probably contact the programme office.
