    just wondering if i cancel my sky digital suscription would i still be able to get any decent channels. thanks in advance

    Best thing to do is remove your viewing card pull out plug on box this will bring up the english epg without channel 4 and 5 then u can see all the extra itvs and bbcs you can set up a favourites menu for all the free channels

    Are you sure the Favourites menu works without a viewing card?

    For a rough idea on free channels, see here. The list is again out of date, but majority is correct and it'll give you an idea.

    Yes it does indeed thats the way i have my second sky box configured

    It used to. But it stores something on the card. I think on some boxes at least there is no access to favorites without a card. Some boxes also no longer work on "other channels" without a card. This *MIGHT* be related to PIN/Parental settings of last use of card.

    Leave the cancelled card in the box, otherwise you won't be able to watch Sky3 etc.
