Carole Nash in the UK are offering classic policies (Of a sort) for 10 year old bikes. Anyone know if they plan to introduce it to Ireland anytime soon?

Ned, yes, the two pigs that flew by my window were carrying satchels of proposal forms on their backs.........

“And my existence, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, generates funds to the exchequer. You don't want to acknowledge that as truth because, deep down in places you don't talk about at the Green Party, you want me on that road, you need me on that road. We use words like freedom, enjoyment, sport and community. We use these words as the backbone of a life spent instilling those values in our families and loved ones. You use them as a punch line. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the tax revenue and the very freedom to spend it that I provide, and then questions the manner in which I provide it. I would rather you just said "thank you" and went on your way. Otherwise I suggest you pick up a bus pass and get the ********* ********* off the road”

    Dunno,
    but it would be good!
A 97 Fireblade, or ZX-7R, Gixxer 750 or the like would be damn good for 350 notes insurance!

The rule, AFAIK, is 15 years, which means that it is currently running at 1992. So if you can find a mint Frieblade and you have a full license and two year no claims it will qualify. Also, there is no limit to milagw or usage (beyond the normal) in the classic policy.
I was looking at a 91 ZXR750J and was ableto get classic insurance for it before I got a ZX-636R.

There's no real need for 2 years NCB to get classic. I had 1 year and some of that was under a provisional. Barely got my full A before my 1st year full whack insurance expired and they offered me classic at renewal time. You must be over 25 AFAIK however. It's easily the best value insurance in the country if you don't mind the older bikes. Some great 15 yo bikes availabe. Quick 'uns too!

I got a magazine from CN yesterday despite me not renewing my policy with them

Anyway they do mention their "Modern Classic" policy for 10 year old bikes. They said up to 20% discounts so this doesn't seem to be like their 15 year classic policy. It is on page 10 of the magazine.

In the next 5 years, 15 year old bikes will include R1s, 916's, some nice Blades, Blackbirds. What do you reckon, will they change the rules upon realising all these high power bikes are eligible?

No, you can already get FZR1000s and Gixxer 750's etc. covered so the risk profile is not gonna shoot up with the availabilty of more modern superbikes. People who are content to ride 15 yo bikes are often pretty relaxed about how they ride them.

The 1992 mk1 Blade is already on their Classic list, I wouldnt call myself "exactly relaxed" when I take my 88 Gixr 750 out for a spin.

i think you also have to be over 21 to get it. i used to insure a VF1100 sabre with them. 300 euro to insure a 100+hp bike. classic . your NCB has no affect on the premium but you can still build on your NCB. as far as i remember that is.

Yes you can. I built up a year of NCB on a classic policy, just recently.
