    Kids got HM for their DS's and its a pretty cool game. Is there anything similar, doesnt have to be HM franchise for the PC?

    Not really. You could get the old SNES harvest moon roms and play them through an emulator. I think the nearest you will get is something like the Sims or the Theme park games.

    animal crossing is similar but different

    there have been a lot of harvest moon games tbh

    You either prefer one or the other. The big advantage Animal Crossing has are the online functions. I myself much prefer Harvest Moon.

    I prefer Animal Crossing. Harvest Moon is goal driven, there's an onus on you to succeed with your farm (and your woman), and so you often find yourself performing monotnous tasks and complying to strict time constraints. Animal Crossing is more relaxed and open-ended, and I find it far more charming.

    It really is down to personal preference, though. Neither is "better" than the other, just different.
