    Mmmm... Kate... drool...

Good stuff, I gave it an 8. The flashback was a bit meh until Penny turned up.

I always thought Penny was going to return at the end of Season 3, now it looks like it's going to happen. Maybe the parachutist chick will be in a coma or have amnesia for a few episodes so she won't have to reveal anything until the last S3 episode.

It's looking like we're on the brink of some major revelations about what's going on. For the first time in the series, someone has deliberately found the island and landed on it. Now we're going to find out where the island is, why it's so hard to find and if it's cloaked somehow.

Interesting to see the woman from the jewellery shop in the photo on the monk's desk. I thought she wasn't a real person but some kind of odd presence that appeared to guide Desmond as he moved through time.

Could she be in cahoots with the monk to move Desmond onto a path that would eventually lead him to the island? Maybe the destiny Desmond has is just to end up on the island so Penny would track him down and eventually rescue everyone (but not for a few seasons yet - Penny will probably be stuck on the island herself for ages before someone comes looking for her).

    Mmmm... Kate... drool...

The woman that landed in the tree looks like she didn't really have a hard fall. If you think about it and watch it again her parachut was caught in the trees. She didn't actually hit anything coming down so i can't see how she will be badly hurt.

Desmond also sings a Celtic song in this episode and you'd probably have to be a football supporter to have any idea what it was:

I predict the viewing figures for Lost to drop by 50% in Glasgow.

I reckon it'll end up being chance she landed on the island. She was flying next thing wham

Well she said "Desmond" (or something similar... maybe it'll be like "Paralyzed"/"Paulo Lies" and it'll be revealed if we see her flashback) and there was the pack with the picture of Desmond and Penny so it doesn't seem like she's just there by chance.

Another little tidbit, Desmond refers to what Penny said in a previous episode: "With enough money and time you can find anything" or something along those lines... can't remember the proper quote.

So going by that I'm fairly sure it's Penny trying to find Desmond.

I liked this episode, thought it wasn't as good as the previous couple which I actually quite enjoyed but it was still a good one with a feeling that something big's coming up soon

Not too bad of an episode, gave it a 7 would have be a 6 but that kate scene deserved a whole mark on its own! :D It will be interesting to see what will desmond do if he gets a flashback of charlie dying again because I think he is beginning to think that it the "test" could be to let charlie die, maybe he will start wondering if he had let charlie die it would have penny in the tree. Alot to look forward to next week.

I really doubt that they have brought this new character into LOST just for her to die at the end of the ep and for us to learn nothing about where she has come from or who sent her. We have to get info from her about something at least.

Good enough episode. What was happening on the island held my interest, seeing Desmond leading Charlie into the jungle and seeming adament that nothing could change, you had to wonder if Charlie was really going to die this time. I also liked the episode's sub-plot between Jack and Sawyer.

The thing that dragged it for me was Desmond's flashbacks; a bit dull. We know how he met Penny now, but it was all a bit meh.

Also, I don't think anyone really expected it to be Penny at the end. It did have me scratching my head wondering if I'd seen her before.

Felt this episode was a bit of a filler. Except for the very end, we didn't learn much. Although the love square (Kate-Sawyer-Jack-Juliet not in any particular order) is heating up.
I thought it was Ana Lucia at the end for a moment, which of course didn't make a lick of sense.

the last flash that Desmond saw reminded me of when Ethan hanged Charlie

I enjoyed this week's episode. It held my interest all the way through and the ending was compelling viewing. I give it an 8.

I'm guessing this Naomi is part of the Portuguese team we saw at the end of season 2 but it's difficult to ascertain much from the episode. By the way, funniest line of the episode by far was this from Sawyer to Jack and Juliet:

"You two arguing over who's your favourite Other?"

    :D

Thought this was another good episode. Not a hugh amount of action and I was expecting Des to save Charlie, still good stuff. Sawyer is quick becoming the fave with hurley a close second on characteres. plus whos the new chick - I guess des changed the current time line by saving charlie and the new chick instead of Penny turned up. Although his vision didnt show Penny in the aircraft gear - maybe the end of his vision is for later when Penny arrives after her "agent" (new helicopter chick) crashed .

I remember i was at a safety meeting at work not so long ago. There were talking about people wearing harnesses on scaffolding. When a person falls of the scaffold, the harness catches and their bodies are left dangling upright. But the thing is they can only be left hanging for a max of 20min or something like that, because all the blood in the body goes to your legs, and your heart has to work overtime to pump the blood around the body. This leads to heart failure. So me thinks thats whats up with her.

Not sure on the figures, cos our safety meetings are on 2pm on fridays, dont pay too much attention at that time of the week :o

I gave it a 9 for a couple of reasons. First of which being that Desmond is rapidly becoming my favourite character. Loved the Celtic singing, loved the drinking of the monk's wine and loved the uncertainty of whether he'd let Charlie die or not. Oh and thanks to the person who put the screencap up of the monks photo. I saw the camera focussing on it but it moved on before I could see who was in the picture.

Secondly, Sawyer. He had some cracking one liners tonight. Especially about the ping pong table 'Have to play every 108 minutes or the world will end!' I know it's a cliché that him and Jack started as enemies and are now becoming friends but it's one that works so I'll leave them to it.

Thirdly, I love the dynamic between Jin and the rest of the Losties. His ghost story was one of the best Lost moments yet. Considering most people hated him when the show started, I think the writers have done a great job developing his character.

Oh, and did anyone else shout at Juliet (or was it Kate) when they brought up Jack's father? I was like 'NO! Don't mention the D-A-D!!' At least the writers restrained themselves from having Jack burst into tears again.

Anyone else notice the brief 'lightning flash' (only a couple of frames?) when Hurley said 'lightning'?

Enjoyed this episode... Was briefly on the edge of my seat when it came up to the bit where
Charlie was 'supposed' to be killed
    ...

Did anyone else notice that in Desmonds vision Charlie was holding the parachute for yer one to drop into supposodly after he had been killed. Either this is just a mistake or Desmond was meant to save Charlie despite what his vision showed him.

Nice catch mate, never noticed that at all. Is that another fu*k up by the writers?

I enjoyed this episode in a final destination way. It was all leading up to does charlie get killed or not, there was a nice bit of a tension about that. I loved the conversation about the flash and superman, quality stuff.
I knew the pilot wouldn't be Penny although she did sound like Penny saying Desmond.
Sawyer was on fire with his 1 liners, quality stuff and kate was on a fire in a whole differant way
I quite like the irony of Celtic winning the cup being mentioned on the day they win the league, nice timing
    I give it a 7 overall.

I noticed that alright, I just thought no matter which way he went with changing the flash one way or the other, some part of it would be wrong. If he didn't save Charlie, he wouldn't be there to hold the parachute...

If he did, then the bit about him being killed would be wrong...

Either way, he had to change some part of it... kinda a catch 22 situation you might say... ;)

Sadly this is Lost... They will spend 15 minutes asking Naomi completely the wrong questions, then Locke will come along and dynamite her.

Just after watching it again. There was a lot of talk of sacrifice in this episode.

It makes me think that someone is gonna lay their life down for the greater good but what? Desmond for Charlie?

    I ****ing hope not :(

Yeah I noticed that as well.Charlie was shown twice (I think) after he was supposed to be killed and it seemed to be too obvious for the writers to overlook.

The boss monk, Brother Campbell is played by Andrew Connolly who I think is Irish.

I watched it a second time myself and found this exchange between Desmond and Hurley pretty interesting:
Hurley: Look, dude. You want me to take you to the wire, I want an explanation.
Desmond: I saw a sequence of events, things that are going to happen.
    Hurley: What'd you see?
Desmond: It was, it was like a sorta jigsaw puzzle. Only, I didn’t have the picture on the box so, I don’t know how the pieces fit exactly, but one of the pieces, the first one, it was your pulling the cable out of the sand.
Hurley: So, what are the other pieces?
Desmond: If I tell you that, it'll change the picture in the box.

Is this related to what Ben told Locke about the magic box and did Des "change the picture" by saving Charlie?
