leaving without notice

    quick question regarding notice : my contract says i have to give a months notice before i leave. this isnt possible for me, i can only give 2 weeks notice. how can this work against me, with regard to my employers withholding wages? can they refuse to pay me/ withhold some of my pay because i am leaving with insufficient notice?

    its an office job, paid fortnightly, i signed a 6 month temp contract and i can't see them beng ruthless, i'm just thinking worst case scenario- anyone have any experience with this type of thing?
