Masters in International Human Rights Law - Advice!

    Hi all,

I would love some feedback from people who have done the course or are in the process of doing the course.

i was seriously considering this masters until someone who went to NUI Galway told me that graduates of this course find it extremely difficult to get jobs afterwards.

I am not coming from a Law background so getting into the course will involve lots of work experience and the course as a whole will be more difficult. It is also quite expensive so don't really want to put myself into a lot of debt if the job prospects are rubbish.

The course content looks great and very interesting. It is also quite broad and varied - which may be the problem - I am coming from a BA which is similar in scope which has left me with a understanding of diverse areas but perhaps not enough indepth knowledge of any!

I would ultimately love to work in the voluntary sector as a policy advisor or something along those lines. I know that this is a very competitive area and unpaid internships seem to be the only way to go when you are starting out. I also don't want my only option to be research or Phds which seems to be the outcome of a lot of Masters! ;)

Anyway if anyone has any advice it would be greatly appreciated!!

    Hey,

Thanks for the advice - I'll give that a try. Just want some info straight from the horses mouth before giving up on what seems to be such a great course in theory!!!
