small stakes cash game ruling

hey guys, am just wondering about something that happened in a live small stakes cash game that i was playing in recently. at the time of this hand we were 9 handed.

unfortunetly i cant remember exactly all the details but ill try: blinds are .10 and .20. it is folded round to a guy in middle position who raises to .80. folded to big blind who calls.

flop is 10,10,7. the big blind checks, and the inital raiser puts out a bet of 1.50. the big blind thinks about this. another guy at the table asks to see the thinker's cards. the 'thinker' slides them across table to the guy, as i say that he cant give any help what so ever.

at this point the raiser says that because the 'thinker' passed his hand across the table, that the hand is dead and he rakes in the pot. i stated that i didnt think this to be the case, as he hadnt exposed his hand, nor had he gotten any advice or help.

my talk goes unheard and the raiser takes the point. it turns out that the raiser had A,J and the 'thinker' had A,K.

my question: is what happened correct? bearing in mind this was not in a casino and was just few mates having a game.

any opinions wud be grateful as me and a m8 are having debate over it.
    cheers guys

pretty sure hand's dead. that sort of stuff shouldn't be going on.

1 player to a hand - so as soon as the cards are shown to another player, hand is dead.

I presume this was a game between mates. To be honest I would leave him to it here, insist on seeing the cards afterwards, and tell them not to ever do that again. If there is any sort of reaction from the 3rd party then give out to them.

Most games among friends should have less strict rule enforcement than house run games as a large part of the reason for playing is the social entertainment aspect. Ye should really discuss in a friendly and civil manner what is and isn't allowed.

This happens all the time and I would generally let it slide, no difference between that and holding your hand up too high "accidentally" showing the people around you.

Meh, if it's between friends playing for a laugh then I don't see the big issue.
