Go handing in your CV to all the supermarkets. At 16 you're really not going to be getting anything more glam tbh.

As Attol says check out (pardon the pun) the supermarkets.

Once you have the money rolling in you can keep an eye out for other jobs. Supermarkets have a rapid turnover, especially now coming up to the summer as students may be heading away to foreign lands, so get in early before everyone else ends for the summer too.

You'll get to meet people your own age and learn a thing or two on the shop floor too. I did trolleys at SuperQuinn back in the summer of 1997 and what a summer it was in the sun ;)

You could apply to fill in for term time in the county council.

He's not likely to get into the council with (presumably) no experience.

I'd also suggest you apply to all the supermarkets in your area. They have huge amounts of staff and they're mainly young, too.

If you can get a job in a cinema, then that's a great gig. I worked in one last summer and had the best summer of my life. Reasonably large number of people working there, nearly all 16-22, strange hours (ie. not 9-5), which is great for going out during the week, or organising parties. Look into it. Failing that, go for the supermarket.

At 16, most cinema's won't employ you, as you're not allowed to seat 18 movie's.

Also, try who you know. Friends, relative's, etc. Esp when it comes to county concils.

I doubt that's the major concern TBH... We had 16 and 17 year olds seating 18s movies. The thing they'd be concerned about would be that you can't work to close (during the summer can be as late as 12.30/1am). But as I said, we had people of that age working with us and it wasn't a problem really, they just weren't rostered for any closes. There's plenty of other shifts available. Once you have a good personality you'll be grand :)
