Geese at Dún Laoghaire

    There were nine geese in the shallow water at Seapoint today - I think they were Brent geese. They were on and around a little jetty west of the west pier, not overly disturbed by the roar of jetskis.

    It made me wonder, when do they normally leave Ireland for their breeding grounds? Were these birds getting ready to depart for Greenland?
