Have a Compaq Ap550 PC that I haven't used in a while. Went to turn it on today and it wouldn't work, the harddrive starts an all but the power light goes from green to red and nothing comes up on the screen. Anyone have an idea about this??

    Need more info :)

You say the Harddrive starts, explain? What if anything do you see on the screen? Can you tell me exactly what the last message you see is? (if you see one)

Do you hear Beeps? in what order are they? ie 3 sharp beeps very quickly or 3 long beeeeeeeeeeeeeps, sounds stupid but they explain a lot.

First guess would be that your motherboard has failed, how long since you last used it?

Sorry, what I meant was I can hear the harddrive starting but absolutely nothing comes up on the monitor. No beeps or any noise. I don't even think the pc picks up the monitor as the monitor led just keeps flashing green...

Does the fan at the back of your Power Supply stay on?
