playing a mtach today was sprinting for a ball and felt my hamstring just collapse in two. I've to wait a few days to go to the clubs physio but just wondering what is the average time for a hamsting injury to heal?

it all depends on the injury, but I'd say you are looking at 4-6 weeks and it could be much longer before it is 'right'. Can you walk at all at the moment?

i can but it hurts like hell and i'm keeping the leg rigid, its not fluid movement.

doesn't sound the best, but could be worse. ice and elevation as much as possible until you get to the physio and then take it from there. don't rush back.
