    Hey all

Everytime I join a BF2142 server within 5-10 minutes I get a message on screen "There is a problem with your connection" then im kicked back into the browser menu and it says ive been disconnected. I have been searching on google the past two hours looking for more recent posts about this issue but I cant find any! They all date back to last year.

I remember I used to be able to play no problem but that was a few months back and I have reformatted since then. I got the lastest firmware for my Netgear router. Suppose I could try reinstall the game... has anyone got any other suggestions?

1 - Make sure BF is put on the firewall exceptions list.
    2 - Try port forwarding.

Are you using wireless or sharing the connection? Might be interference from another wireless router.

Also, what are your pings like? Monitor your connection using Pingplotter http://www.pingplotter.com for a while and see if high pings might be the cause.

I'm on irish broadband wireless, and before I go to play bf2 I set cmd pinging my gateway. If I get one "request timed out", or one ping more than 300miliseconds I get kicked from the server. BF2 and BF2142 (same thing with different skins) is so sensitive, its really annoying.
In steam games, and COD2 I just lag and can't hit anything when my connection is crap, in BF2 I get kicked from the server. Really annoying.

I doubt you have a firewall problem, the game wouldn't connect at all if that was the case. Why don't you do /run under the start menu, type cmd, then type; "ping xx.xxx.xxx.xxx -t"
the Xs is your gateway, that pingplotter thing starman mentioned mite be good too. In my case my connection messes up trying to reach my gateway, from there its usually grand, it may be different for you.

Anyway if you do the cmd thing, the next time you get kicked out of BF see if it coincides with a "request timed out", or a really high ping.

If it does, than you probably have a backround program using your bandwidth, or you may just have a bad connection, like me :(
If you have a bad connection try playing at between 1-5am, works for me :D

Seemed to fix it now.... I had a adapter to like plug to phone cables into in order to extend the cable... my routers on the floor now plugged directly into the cable :D
