Bit of a Noob question here as I have'nt built a PC in a year or two so feel out of the loop.
I just purchased an intel E6600 which has a bus speed of 1066Mhz , any mainboards I see supporting that speed seem to only support memory up to pc2-6400 (800Mhz).

Is there any point in getting a higher end Mobo that supports pc2-8500(1066Mhz) memory or is this just overkill?

Also could anyone suggest a good Mainboard as there is just so much choice I cant decide.

Your FSB, which is the frequency your system operates at, will be 266MHz for a 6600.

This means that for your memory to be running on a 1:1 basis, your I/O Bus is running at 266 MHz and you will need memory rated for DDR2-533 (PC-4200).

If you plan to overclock and/or need the extra bandwidth, then get DDR2-800.
