Hoping for some help (as usual) with a problem im having.

I reinstalled Win 2000 for a friend on a Fujitsu-siemens t bird desktop. I cannot seem to find the drivers for it anywhere. In device manage it shows that the graphics card, sound card and 2 PCI devices are not working. Its turned into quite a headache for me. Any ideas where i might find these??

Did you not check the manufacturers website?

It possible to work out what drivers are needed alright by opening up the PC and looking at the graphics card name, sound card chip etc but might take you a few hours.
Think there is software out there to detect the name of the hardware in your PC but i amn't sure if it is any good.

sisoft sandra will detect what hardware you have, and you can use a program called driverwizzard to auto get thedrivers for you. but i dont know if its free anymore.

i got the drivers from the manufacturers websute finally. i had googled it to no avail. In device manager there is 1 pci device that still has no driver loads. any idea what device it could be? its not the modem..

Look at the PCI slots, what else is there besides modem?

also try windows update, it may be able to decide what drivers you need

    (presuming your network/modem/broadband is working)

graphics card and modem are working

only thing in pci slots are graphics card and modem. On the same card as the graphics card is a yellow circular slot, it looks similar to that of a mouse and keyboard (not usb)

    windows update couldnt help :(

That yellow slot is S Video - nothign to do with the missing PCI slot. Hmm amn't sure what it could be, sure your drivers for modem installed correctly and modem working?

I have the same problem aswell, only pci device installed is a x-fi, and it still shows a unmaned pci device, but nothing there. Maybe its just a bug with windows ?

cool. that sorts that. Loaded the fecking audio driver but it isnt working. it says that it cannot start although it recognised the driver as being the correct one. any ideas on this?
Where do i find the audio card?? i want to check if its inserted correctly

It more than likely the wrong Driver. Where the link to the manufacturer's site? You could get the motherboard name by looking inside. That should sort everything. Take it that it is onboard sound.

downloaded all the drivers from www.fujitsu-siemens.com and ran the installer but it didnt recognise the drivers as the correct one. Everything is working now apart from the onboard sound driver. Think ive spent enough time on this one!! If he really wants sound he can buy a new sound card!!

    thanks for your help

Don't give up at the last hurdle :)

Download & install THIS, it will tell you exactly what is installed on your friends system.
